ABOUT ME
I've been a journalist, a nonfiction book author, and a writer-producer for network television. I currently write feature films, short stories and novels. My first novel, a noir romp called Go Down Hard, was First Runner Up for the Claymore Award at Killer Nashville before being published by Brash Books in 2015. My novella Psycho Logic, the sequel to my short story "Dead End," was published by Stark Raving Press in 2014.
My short stories have been nominated for two Anthony Awards, the Derringer Award and "Honeymoon Sweet" won the Macavity Award (read or hear the free podcast on my Stories page).
Among my six nonfiction books, two were #1 New York Times bestsellers--one pop-psychology the other pop-gynecology.
My short film, Overnight Sensation, was an Academy Award nominee. I was one of the writers on the seminal miniseries V: The Final Battle and I wrote the famous episode where The Incredible Hulk dropped acid.
Based in Los Angeles, I am an active member of Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, Writers Guild of America, International Thriller Writers, and Barbecue Brethren.
